Masturbation

Masturbation definition

Masturbation denotes all forms of sexual stimulation outside of the conjugal act which is suitable in itself for the procreation of offspring, to which marriage is ordered by its nature and by which the spouses become one flesh.

Any attempts to avoid pregnancy can fail, and this is why no marital intercourse may be classified as masturbation.

Sexual intercourse (also called coitus, or copulation) is reproductive act in which the male reproductive organ enters the female reproductive tract, if the reproductive act is complete, sperm cells are passed from the male body into the female, in the process fertilizing the female egg and forming a new organism.

This biological definition explains the ultimate goal of sexual intercourse and corresponds well with St. Thomas Aquinas teaching. On the basis of teleology, every emission of seed that takes place in such a way that generation cannot result or suitably result is against the good of the human being. Thus, if this is purposely done, it is a sin. The inordinate emission of seed opposes the good of the nature which is the preservation of the species.

Consequently, all forms of sexual stimulation outside of the conjugal act may be classified as masturbation.

If so, those who cannot control their sexuality should

·         realize that to achieve sexual pleasure both genders first of all engage in masturbation and much less commonly in coitus;

·         be ensured that non-penetrative masturbation is by no means inferior to the vaginal, anal and oral insertive sex (i. e. penis-in-vagina, penis-in-anus, penis-in-mouth sex);

·         abstain from the most dangerous forms of masturbation.

Fingering, "hand job" or mutual digital masturbation is safe as long as the finger(s) do not serve as vehicle(s) for body fluids and germs in them.

Genital mutilation

Anatomy of the female pelvic area enables straddle masturbation, not uncommonly involuntary, while bicycling, horse-riding and the like. The visible, covered and hidden female organs are richly equipped with a high density and concentration of nerve endings sensitive to physical stimulation. Pressing them against anything (e. g. a pillow during pillow-humping, piece of furniture, while pole-dancing, or riding someone's leg horse) or exerting pressure on them by squeezing thighs and/or legs double crossing (known as syntribadism, legsqueeze; Spanish: entrelazando las piernas, cruzando las piernas, apretando los muslos; French: croiser les jambes, serrer des cuisses) make possible female masturbation hands free. Prior to first coitus, the clitoris is usually the only source of female orgasm. It has the obligatory role of activation-establishment of the epigenetic connection of the orgasmic circuit. If this neural reflex circuit is not active during childhood it will never be functional. In the months or years following first coition, intra-vaginal penetration cannot trigger an orgasm unless this circuit is functional. Ablation of the clitoris during the infancy prevents the establishment of the reflex circuit, and the woman will never be able to experience clitoral or vaginal pleasure. Orgasm is a complex reflex. It encopasses numerous pathways and nervous connections of such magnitude that one can speak of a vast orgasmic circuit.
At birth this circuit only exists in a rudimentary state. Similarly, other nervous circuits, such as that which controls bipedal locomotion and that which regulates spoken language, exist in a rudimentary stage at birth. The establishment of these circuits is epigenetic, that is, secondary to birth, and dependson the full development of these connections and the synapses connecting the neurons under the influence of endogenous stimulation.
In young humans, the epigenetic connection of the orgasmic circuit begin to fuse effectively around age 2 or 3. The normal mechanism for activation of this circuit is handling and fondling of the external sexual organs, as inevitably and innocently practiced by children as they explore their body. Little boys, with their projecting penis, have an advantage in this respect. They have been observed masturbating in the womb. Little girls, however, fondle the clitoris during infancy, and their orgasmic circuit becomes functional aound 6 or 7 years of age. Consequently, masturbation in late childhood and adolescence, even when it is not regular, continues to involve the clitoris and trains the functional pathways of the reflex circuit. Certainly, there exist other feminine methods of reaching solitary orgasm. Thigh rubbing exercises the pelvic musculature, the anal elevator muscles. and the perineal muscles.  Although thigh rubbing can be considered a "trial run" of the orgasmic physiology of the lower vagina, it is not efffective until after the establishment of the orgasmic reflex by clitoral stimulation.
It is only in the second decade of life that human females attain genital development sufficient to engage in copulation. Although they are not exactly of the same type as those of the clitoris, the vagina possesses orgasmogenic erogenous receptors which permit the triggering of the orgasmic reflex after a time of coital practice. This is possible only of the orgasmic circuit has been established and has become functional. For many females, self-induced clitoral orgasm is a necessary preliminary for attaining vaginal orgasm.
It should be acknowledged that the complete branching of the reflex connections of orgasm can only be established during the crucial period of early childhood. Likewise, this is the same crucial period of life for the development of language skills. After that, it is too late. The physiology of the orgasmic reflex must therefore be established in the first years of life, before 6 or 7 years of age. It will later be reactivated by functional stimulation. Otherwise, it will fall into disuse. This is the classic mechanism whereby under-utilized nervous circuits wither and degenarate. Answer: An opinion given by Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi allows masturbation under two conditions following the Hanbali school of religious thought: The Hanbali jurists permit masturbation only under two conditions: first, the fear of committing fornication or adultery, and second, not having the means to marry.

Thus, we do advise you to have your wife with you and not to stay alone. If not, i.e., if there is no way to have her with you and there is a dire necessity to be away from her, then you should make use of the following:
1- Observing fasting, because it bolsters one's faith, preserves chastity, and protects one from evil thoughts.
2- Observing moderation in eating and drinking in order to avoid stimulating your desire.
3- Keeping away from anything that is sexually stimulating, such as pornographic pictures, erotic films and love songs.
4- Choosing good and righteous friends.
5- Keeping yourself busy in worship and spiritual acts.
6- Interacting with activities of the society in such a way that it keeps you away from thinking about sex.
7- Avoiding gatherings and places that bring men and women physically close to each other.
8- Trying to admire natural things such as flowers and beautiful scenery, which do not stimulate one sexually, instead of admiring girls and women.
If you find the previous things useful, then it is forbidden for you to masturbate. However, if you find that you cannot relieve yourself except through masturbation, and you fear you may lapse in adultery if you do not masturbate, then the juristic rule which states that the lesser evil is to be suffered in order to fend off the major one applies to you, as masturbation is deemed to be the lesser of two evils in this case. But, we would like to stress that this may be done only in the case of dire necessity, when all solutions prove to be of no avail.
